Chikungunya - May also lead to inflammation in the brain, and even death in some people.

Coming down with the mosquito-borne infection chikungunya for the most part prompts fever and extreme torment, yet another study demonstrates to it might likewise prompt irritation in the cerebrum, and even passing in a few individuals.

In the study, analysts took a gander at a plague of the infection on Reunion Island, in the Indian Ocean close Madagascar, that kept going from 2005 to 2006 and sickened 300,000 individuals. As a consequence of their diseases, 24 individuals created encephalitis, which is irritation of the cerebrum, and four of those individuals kicked the bucket from their contamination.

Encephalitis from the chikungunya infection was most basic among infants more youthful than one and individuals matured 65 and more seasoned, by study.

The scientists noticed that the encephalitis rates in these gatherings were "much higher than the rates of encephalitis in the United States in these age classifications, notwithstanding when you include every one of the reasons for encephalitis," study creator Dr. Patrick Gérardin, of Central University Hospital in Saint Pierre, Reunion Island, said in an announcement.

Chikungunya infection is transmitted to individuals by mosquitoes. The most widely recognized indications of a contamination are fever and joint agony and in addition muscle torment, joint swelling and rash, as indicated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The vast majority recoup inside of a week of getting to be tainted, yet for a few individuals, the agony and different side effects may proceed for a considerable length of time or even years, the specialists said. [The 9 Deadliest Viruses on Earth]

There is as of now no immunization to anticipate chikungunya or pharmaceutical to treat the infection, as per the CDC. Individuals who come down with the infection are commonly treated with fever-lessening prescriptions and painkillers, Gérardin told Live Science. On the off chance that individuals create joint pain as an aftereffect of disease with the infection, they are given calming medications, he said.

Flare-ups of chikungunya have happened in numerous locales of the world, including Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean islands, the analysts said. What's more, as of late, the illness has been spreading to new zones. As of September 2015, more than 7,000 cases had been accounted for in Mexico, as indicated by the CDC.

"Since there is no immunization to counteract chikungunya and no pharmaceutical to treat it, individuals who are making a trip to these zones ought to know about this disease and find a way to maintain a strategic distance from mosquito nibbles, for example, wearing anti-agents and long-sleeves and jeans if conceivable," Gérardin said.

In 2014, a Florida man turned into the first individual to wind up tainted with the infection in the U.S. (beforehand, other individuals had been determined to have chikungunya in the U.S., yet they had gotten the infection while voyaging somewhere else).

This year, 571 instances of chikungunya infection illness have been accounted for so far in 42 U.S. states, including cases contracted both here and somewhere else. What's more, 196 cases have so far been accounted for in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2015, as indicated by the CDC.

At the point when the specialists caught up with the general population in the new study three years after the flare-up, they found that an expected 30 to 45 percent of the 24 individuals who had created encephalitis went ahead to create enduring inabilities. (The specialists were not ready to ascertain the careful rate as a few individuals were not able be found.)

Among the kids who had been tainted as newborn children and created encephalitis, these inabilities included behavioral changes and issues with speculation and memory aptitudes, the specialists said.

"The results of this encephalitis appear to be especially destructive in infants," Gérardin said.

Among the grown-ups who were tainted with the infection and created encephalitis as an aftereffect of the contamination, the inabilities included dementia and epilepsy, as indicated by the study, distributed Friday in the diary Neurology.

The latest international trailer is showing us just what to expect!

If you're a lit-obsessed dreamer who devours Jane Austen novels, or a Walking Dead junkie who prefers their horror flicks as zombie-filled as possible, then you absolutely must feast your eyes on the new trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The 2009 parody novel is getting a big screen adaptation, and the latest international trailer is showing us just what to expect - which is a bloody good time.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies takes place in an alternate universe where England has been overrun by zombies and the Bennett sisters must fight to keep the undead at bay. Elizabeth Bennett (Lily James) is just as fiercely independent in this version of the story as she is in Jane Austen's original novel, only this time, she tucks a sword into her stockings and chops off zombie heads like it's her job. (Which it kind of is.) She declares in the trailer that she'd "never trade [her] sword for a ring," and that the right man would never ask her to do so. You go, girl.

As the new movie is based on the original novel, there will also be plenty of swoon-worthy moments between Elizabeth and the standoffish Mr. Darcy, whom eventually fall in love despite their original judgments against another. That part of the story hasn't changed, only this time, the couple has to deal with hoards of deranged zombies in addition to prejudice.

Basically, this film is the feminist horror-comedy-romance hybrid that you absolutely need to see. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hits theaters in February of 2016, so grab your girlfriends with strong stomachs and a passion for Ms. Austen for a seriously unforgettable movie experience. Check out the trailer below:

Surface Pro 4 - still has some way to go to being an all-purpose two-in-one!

Microsoft's 2-in-1 resembles a tablet yet acts more like a portable workstation, which can be an issue

Having experienced a few eras of the Surface tablet, Microsoft has announced the Surface Pro 4 the first in the gadget's class of "2-in-1" items to "experience the fantasy" of a generally useful cross breed gadget that does not trade off on structure or capacity.

Contrasted and the Surface Pro 3, the Pro 4 is an authoritative stride up with significant enhancements. It is additionally the best tablet Microsoft has made. Notwithstanding, regardless it has some approach to go to being a generally useful two-in-one.

The greatest jump would be in the range of execution, now "desktop class" and scaled up to an Intel i7 with 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM. My audit unit was an i5 with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM. I preferred that it was basically a completely working PC. I ran an Adobe Photoshop rate test and its outcomes came in just somewhat more terrible than a normal portable PC of comparative determination.

As far as battery life, it went down around 5 for each penny like clockwork under substantial use at 75 for each penny shine level.

The Pro 4 accompanies a marginally greater screen than its ancestor at 31cm, with a higher determination of 2,736 X 1,824. Microsoft figured out how to crush in the greater screen without making the general size of the tablet bigger. It is presently likewise 28g lighter, at 766g.

Taking after criticism that the past flip spread/console was exceedingly defenseless to oil recolors, the new form now has an oil-safe covering.

Both the console and trackpad surface region have likewise been re-built to be more divided out and less demanding to utilize.

While the pen remains to a great extent the same, it has an "eraser" on top that can be clicked to enact certain capacities, for example, taking a screenshot. Where beforehand you needed to hang the pen dubiously on the Type Cover, there is currently an attractive "clean edge" on one side of the Surface Pro 4, along which you can safely snap the pen set up.

What I despised about the Surface Pro 4 is that it is still basically to a greater extent a portable PC than a tablet. I got myself regularly expecting to conjure "Desktop mode", which is a bad dream to explore without a legitimate console and mouse/trackpad. The on-screen console does not generally show up when you require it to, and gets effectively released while writing.

It is important that a portion of the issue lies in the reality the Windows Store still lingers behind Apple's App Store and Google Play. Until more designers bounce into compose legitimate tablet applications for Microsoft, tablet usefulness will be extremely frustrated.

The day may come where a tablet and portable workstation can exit in a solitary structure component. For the present, the Surface Pro 4 may be best for the individuals who wouldn't fret certain bargains with two-in-one arrangements.

Valuing reaches from S$1,399 to S$3,399 and the new Surface Pro 4 can be purchased by means of the Microsoft Store online or chose PC retailers.

The University of Chicago has canceled classes on Monday!

CHICAGO — The University of Chicago has canceled classes on Monday and asked students, faculty and non-essential staff to stay away from its main campus on the city’s South Side after being informed by the FBI of a threat of gun violence.

"The University was informed by FBI counterterrorism officials today (Sunday) that an unknown individual posted an online threat of gun violence against the University of Chicago, specifically mentioning 'the campus quad' on Monday morning at 10 a.m.," university president Robert Zimmer told the campus community in an e-mail Sunday. "Based on the FBI’s assessment of this threat and recent tragic events at other campuses across the country, we have decided in consultation with federal and local law enforcement officials to exercise caution by canceling all classes and activities on the Hyde Park campus through midnight on Monday."

FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said efforts to determine the source of the threat are ongoing.

Zimmer cautioned that there will be an increased police and security presence on and around campus, and that the FBI continues to investigate the threat.

The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools (a private elementary and high school), the University of Chicago Charter School campuses, the University libraries, the Quadrangle Club and other campus facilities will be closed on Monday.

The University of Chicago Medical Center will remain open to patients, but Zimmer said patients and staff will see added security measures.

The closure comes less than two months after a gunman killed nine people on the Umpqua Community College campus in Roseburg, Ore.
