15-year-old Cole Hammer becomes third-youngest golfer in U.S. Open history
For 15-year-old U.S. Open qualifier Cole Hammer, its something he's listening to a great deal this week.
"Quite a few people on the fairway call me Hammer Time in some cases," Hammer said Tuesday at Chambers Bay. "I think they like to have a great time with my last name. Be that as it may, I like it. It's sort of fun."
Notwithstanding, the high schooler, who is the third-most youthful U.S. Open challenger ever, has no clue who M.C. Mallet is – well, was. Try not to hurt Hammer for not knowing Hammer; the golfer wasn't even alive when the rapper was dropping hits left and right. On the other hand, the youngster, who has effectively dedicated to play university golf at the University of Texas, doesn't have a great deal of time for music appreciation. He concedes that a large portion of his time is either spent in a classroom or on a golf course.
